Congratulations to our drummer, Norman Allred! He is currently competing in the Guitar Center’s Drum Off competition. He won his preliminary round AND the Greensboro, NC store finals round. Next, he will fly to Lawrenceville, GA to compete in the Southeast Regional. Good Luck Norman—you are the best!
The Last Resort Band will perform at Bimini’s Oyster Bar on Thursday, November 5th. We will have a special guest sitting in on mandolin as Norman will be competing in the Regional Drum Off.
Don’t forget to support the newly formed Last Resort Trio. Sammy, Mark and Johnny will perform at JH Adams Inn on Thursday, November 12th. Come join us on the patio for great food and a fun night of music in an intimate setting. The patio is covered in tents, comfortable seating and lots of heaters to keep you cozy and warm. This past weekend was a blast! Mark, Johnny and Norman reunited with their old band mates the Carter Brothers for 2 shows. Bimini’s was bursting at the seams Thursday night!
On October 1 Sammy, Johnny and Lacy will travel to Nashville for the IBMA awards. Sammy has been nominated for the 15th time for Banjo Player of the Year. Sammy’s band—the Lonesome River Band—has been selected to perform on the awards show at the Grand Ole Opry Thursday night as well as having two other song nominations. Good luck to Sammy and his band!
October 1 is still a good night for the Last Resort Band at Bimini’s Oyster Bar. Mark, Norman and Glen have recruiter a great singer for the night. Come see the boys play an entirely new song list on this occasion—it should be loads of fun! |

The Last Resort Band is back in full swing this Thursday night, September 3rd at Bimini’s Oyster Bar in High Point, NC. The last few shows at Bimini’s have been packed inside and out. Let’s do it again this week!
On Labor Day, Sammy, Vern and Johnny will play an acoustic trio at Sammy’s farm in Meadows of Dan, Virginia for the 5th Annual Chinquapin Festival and the opening of the Corn Maze http://www.mountainmeadowcrafts.com/chinquapin.htm It’s a short ride up the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway; come see us and enjoy good music, fun and crafts.
In two weeks Norman, Johnny and Vern will reunite with their old band mates…the Carter Brothers for 2 shows. Be sure to catch the reunion at Bimini’s on September 17th! |

Congratulations Sammy! Sammy Shelor has once again been nominated for International Bluegrass Music Association’s Banjo Player of the Year. This is the Sammy’s 15th nomination and he has won the title on 4 occasions. We are proud to have him sharing his remarkable talent with the Last Resort Band. Catch the band this Saturday at the Visulite Theatre in Charlotte and again on Thursday, August 20th at Bimini’s Oyster Bar in High Point. |
