As most of you know, Sammy heads up one of the finest bluegrass bands ever—the Lonesome River Band. LRB’s latest release “No Turning Back” has made it to the Number “1″ spot on the Bluegrass Unlimited Top 15 Album Chart for the month of May. “Them Blues”, the first single from the CD also made a climb to Number 4 on the Top 30 singles chart. “Like A Train Needs A Track”, the second single also climbed to Number 24 for the month. Congratulations to Sammy, Brandon, Andy, Mike H., and Mike A.! The Lonesome River Band is playing in Richmond on Friday and in Denton on Saturday. Since we’re playing on Thursday at Aquaria, Sammy has asked his band to meet the bus at Aquaria in High Point. Be sure to join us at Aquaria this Thursday and shake and howdy with the boys from LRB! |

Schedule Change Please note our normal Thursday schedule will change this month. Sammy Shelor will be touring in Japan for a couple of weeks. Our Bimini’s Oyster Bar date will move to April 30th instead of April 16th. Next month we will return to our regular schedule of playing at Bimini’s on the 3rd Thursday of the month. We hope to see you on the 30th when Sammy returns. CD Update Thanks to everyone who purchased our new CD. We had a blast recording it. In addition to selling these around where we play, we will also be pursuing additional venues to play. The material is targeted towards some of the corporate work we feel this band is well-suited for. Enjoy and share with your friends! |

CD Release Party @ Aquaria |

Sunday, 22 March 2009 |
Debute Album Be sure to be at Aquaria Seafood Grille, Thursday, April 2nd at 8:00 in High Point, NC to celebrate the Last Resort Band’s long awaited debut CD Soul Twang. The Last Resort Band will be performing their new CD track-by-track live for a packed house. The band released the CD just last week and is anxious to share it with the Aquaria crowd. The CD—much like a live performance—is full of musical variety. It begins with a rendition of Lloyd Williams’ “Shama Lama Ding Dong” and Garnet Mimms’s “A Quiet Place”. But just when you think you’ve bought an oldies record, you will hear current releases like “Boondocks” by Little Big Town and “How Long” by the Eagles. In addition to timeless favorites like Otis Redding’s “Try a Little Tenderness” and The Beatles’, “Saw Her Standing There”, you’ll hear an acoustic version of the Allman Brothers’ “Sweet Melissa”. However, these and other classics like “Paperback Writer.” by the Beatles, take on a brand new sound when performed by The Last Resort’s innovative bluegrass instrumentation. Their fusion of old soul, rock n’ roll, and bluegrass produce fresh and exciting renditions of songs like Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”. For those who want to hear bluegrass in its more traditional form, “Take This Hammer” is sure to please. But if you like your grass on steroids, you’ll be glad to know the boys have included New Grass Revival’s versions of “White Freightliner Blues” and “Get in the Wind” on the project. Come early and plan to stay late. This will be one for the books! |
